Water Spangles is an excellent floating plant for aquariums and ponds due to its attractive appearance, versatility, and fast growth rate! Water Spangles (Salvinia minima) is a Central and South American floating plant that is known for its relatively large size and its dangling roots, which are a great feeding area and refuge for aquatic animal fry. This hardy plant propagates quickly and can provide shade to areas of the aquarium, which will encourage more reclusive species to come out of hiding. This is a truly beautiful and very beneficial plant for aquariums with gentle water flow. Care is extremely easy for Water Spangles. It can thrive in a relatively wide pH range as well as moderate to high lighting. Its only major specific requirement is that it reportedly does not do well with a high level of surface agitation. It is best kept in an aquarium with gentle water flow. Under these simple conditions, it will multiply very quickly and provide significant denitrification as well as oxygenation, which is particularly important in aquariums with low water flow. It does not require CO2 supplementation. As it propagates, some Water Spangles plants should be removed so that they do not completely cover the entire water surface and smother the aquarium.
Plants can suffer during shipping and go through a "melting” phase. Leaves may turn brownish and roots may fall off. Don't worry, this is normal. Plants will have spent a couple days inside a box with no water and light. Upon arrival, put them in an area of your tank that has little to no flow (so tops of leaves are not constantly wet) and provide bright aquarium lights or sunlight After an adjustment period, they will grow and multiply quickly!
Everyone's tank condition is different and depending on whether you care for plants properly, they may or may not thrive. I can NOT guarantee how these plants will grow in your aquarium or pond. Please research on Google or Youtube how to properly care for them.
It's the responsibility of buyers to know what plants and fish are legal to keep in their state and what plants or fish are considered invasive or noxious in their state. Please make sure you research this before ordering. I encourage all buyers to abide and follow the rules their home state has placed on live plants and fish as established by their home State Department of Agriculture.
